British Veteran's Testament 'Bury Me in The Korean Soil When I Die" 참전 영국군의 유언 ' 죽거든 나를 한국땅에 나를 묻어주오.'

2005.4.24일 우연히 파주 적성 설마리 영국군 참전 기념공원에 들렸다가 목격한  기념식에서 영 군군 참전용사 50 여명의 행진과 獻花 , 유해 안치 등의 순서로   추도식이 엄숙히 거행되었으며  영국 대사관은 이번 행사에서 파주지역 학생을 선정 , 장학금을 전달하였다 . 유해는 고인의 딸과 가족에 의해서 당시 고인의 전투지역 고지에 뿌려졌다. 영국은 한국전에 미국 다음으로 많은 87,000 명을 파병했고 이 중 1,109 명이 숨지고 2,674 명이 부상했다 .  사망자 유해 800 기는 부산에 있는 UN 墓地에 安葬됐다 . I dropped by the British Memorial Site in Joksong, Paju, Korea in 24 Apr. 2005, observing the solemn memorial ceremony in sequence of veteran's march, laying wreaths & dead remain and scholarship award for the students by British embassy. The remains of the dead veteran were spread on the veteran's battle place. The United Kingdom had delegated 87,000 troopers, next to USA, among whom 1109 were died and 2674 injured. 800 of the dead had been buried in UN Cemetery in Pusan, Korea.    아래 내용은 추도식 참석 후 관련 기사를 참고하여 기술하였다... The Capture of Seoul “ By the grace of a merciful Providence our forces fighting under the standard of that greatest hope and inspiration of mankind, the United Nations, have liberated this ancient city of Seoul.” DOUGLAS MACARTHUR (at Seoul, 29 September 1950) With the crossing of the Han River projected for 20 September, the drive on Seoul was about to begin. During the planning stages for the Inch'on landing, MacArthur had prophesied to Almond, "You will be in Seoul in five days." Almond replied, "I cannot do that but I will have the city in two weeks." [1] The plan for crossing the Han River called for Colonel Murray's 5th Marines to cross at the ferry site three miles northeast of Kimpo Airfield and eight miles west of Seoul.
